Spring bulbs perform well in patio pots and planters as long as they drain well and the containers are wooden, concrete, glass fiber or of some other frost-proof material. Large containers are perfect for bulbs such as tulips and large-cupped daffodils. Smaller pots are suited to crocuses, grape hyacinth or miniature daffodils. Plant as many bulbs as possible, but don't let them touch. After backfilling with potting soil, cover the containers with temporary fruit netting or plant with pansies to discourage squirrel digging.
