Look at this array of colorful coleus and more that were raised by the Virginia Beach Master Gardeners. The plants were grown in greenhouses at the Hampton Roads Agriculture Research and Extension Center on Diamond Springs Road.
They are waiting to be transported to the Master Gardeners Spring Plant Sale that will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market on Dam Neck Road.
You’ll find perennials, annuals, veggies, trees, shrubs and even aquatic plants. Plants include Dancing Flame Salvia with its variegated foliage and fire red flowers, fragrant angel’s trumpets in many colors, Japanese climbing ferns, fiber optic grass, scented geraniums, swan plants plus many more.
And of course, lots of coleus. With Mother’s Day the day after the sale, cut flowers will be available too, but Mom might like nothing better than to go to the sale with you. Everything will be under the picnic pavilion at the market so the sale is on, rain or shine!
