Gardening tip: Harvesting zucchini and squash

Posted in : Gardening

(added few months ago!)

Check zucchini and yellow summer squash vines regularly to keep on top of the harvest. Zucchinis and squash should be no more than 12 inches long before cutting and preferably six to eight inches. Use a sharp knife or hand pruners for harvesting. Fruit that is too large declines in flavor and causes production to drop. Keep the vines well watered.
